The tree of heaven
Ginkgo biloba is the only surviving species of the Ginkgoaceae family. This tree dates back over 270 million years in Asia and is thought to be the oldest tree on Earth thanks in particular to its astonishing powers of resistance and ability to adapt to any environment.
Ginkgo biloba is known by various names including "the forty-ecu tree", the "Fountain of youth" and even "the tree of heaven", all images that enhance the mythical aspect of this tree.
The leaves of the Ginkgo are high in flavonoids, giving it the ability to stimulate memory whilst protecting against memory loss. Ginkgo is known to contribute to a balanced nervous system and foster good mental balance (in a dose of 120 to 240 mg/day of leaves). Ginkgo leaf extract is believed to have a positive effect on mood and alertness.
