A Mediterranean plant with a sweet aniseed fragrance!
Fennel or "sweet dill" has been used since ancient times for its culinary qualities because of its fragrant aniseed aroma. It is a plant that grows abundantly in Mediterranean countries and is one of the 88 plants decreed essential to a medicinal garden by Charlemagne. Its fruit, which is rich in essential oil (with a 50% anethole content), is used for its beneficial effects on the digestive system. Capable of stimulating the digestion, fennel reduces the symptoms of bloating. It is particularly known to support appetite, digestion, elimination and digestive tract health, and to contribute to normal urinary elimination functions (in a dose of 0.2 to 5g/day of powder).
