Edelweiss, an amazing flower
Edelweiss, also known by the names of "flower of the glaciers", "silver star", and "cotton plant of the Alps" is a flower that originated in Siberia, but emigrated to Europe during the ice ages. Because of the extreme climatic conditions in which it blooms (high mountain regions, at altitudes of 2000 to 3000 metres), the edelweiss has developed a highly sophisticated defence system. Its high concentration of flavonoids gives it antioxidant properties. This eternally white flower, which for a long time was extensively harvested in the wild, is now protected by national legislation. Fleurance Nature uses organically grown plants.
